How and Why?

KARL's journey began with a single mission: to empower farmers to work smarter, not harder. It all started with a farm management app to help administrative tasks for our founder's farmer cousin in Denmark.

However, through research, we discovered that unpredictable weather and unreliable weather apps were actually causing the most stress and frustration for farmers. This inspired us to build the world's first AI scheduling framework for agriculture.

We're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible with space-tech and the latest cloud technologies, and we're proud to be part of a movement that's shaping the future of farming and beyond.

Timeline

Join us on a trip down memory lane as we showcase the key milestones we've achieved on our journey so far. Our success wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of our esteemed partners - a heartfelt thank you to all of you!

2019

The beginning

While studying, David started development of the initial Farm Management Platform idea and received funding and incubation from IT University of Copenhagen.

Field research and app development

KARL was officially founded and we conducted field studies and interviews at various farms, agricultural sub-contractors and farming associations. We also launched the beta of the initial iOS app at a test farm.

2020

2021

Pivot and team boost

We pivoted from a complete Farm Management Platform to only AI Agricultural Scheduling. Jose and Felix joined the team and we started developing AgroMind (our optimisation algorithm) and AgroMind Lab (the in-house framework that we use to develop agronomic models for AgroMind).

Beta releases and funding

We released FarmSync Beta (our data sync APIs), AgroMind Beta and a demo Web App, received funding and incubation from ESA BIC, and attended AgroMek through support from Food & Bio Cluster (Beyond Beta).

2022

2023

Pilot programmes and funding

We received funding from Innovation Fund Denmark and ESA KICKSTART, attended WORLD AG EXPO, backtested our models on historic data from a leading danish Farm Management System and have initiated pilot programmes with farmers in Denmark, USA and Mexico.
